StUmobiel is a company introduced by the course Design Innovation Methods by Yaliang Chuang. StUmobiel provides a transportation service for elderly in need, driven by student volunteers. In this service, student volunteers can use their driven kilometers for driving with the stUmobiel car for personal use. After the company has been running for a year, the inflow of volunteer students has been strikingly low. Here, we describe a renewed service called stUmobile, in which we aim to significantly increase the inflow of student volunteers in stUmobiel.
The course helped me to develop digital UX prototypes in a high-fidelity manner. This prototype helped to test the user’s needs and adjust the concept further. Throughout the process I learnt to create a refined business plan to fit those analyzed needs of the customer. Furthermore, valuating the concept, with the addition of a new type of user research: shadowing, connected the concept to the user. Finally, on the side of business, I learnt about business strategies from start-up companies and got new insights on new techniques used by larger companies.
