The QklQ is a fun and playful concept for navigating through campus. Imagine yourself looking for a building on the big TU/e campus, but you have trouble finding it, this is where our product comes in use. It is an interactive egg that you can pick up from the entrances of the campus. By twisting the bottom of this egg you select the building you want to reach. This is where your journey starts. When you shake it it will tell you how far away you are by sound and vibration. The closer you get the louder the sounds and the more intense the vibration gets. This way you will find your destination in a playful manner. Once you have reached your building you will hear the cockadoodle of the fully hatched egg.
The product works by using a GPS-module, an accelerometer, a digital compass, a speaker, multiple vibrating motors and a pot-meter. We have multiple vibrating motors because the egg will only vibrate on the side you have to go to. The volume of the speakers gets louder and this causes different sounds to be played.
When we would launch the product we would also plan to hire a programmer to make sure that the feedback from the students will be taken seriously and that the egg will be updated regularly. This assures that the egg will always be in its best possible state to make sure all students have a good experience with it. The QkleQ would be in collaboration with the TU/e, so at this point it only works here. Later on we hope to expand to other locations, for example other universities, theme parks and even city centres.
Our main stakeholder is the TU/e who will help us with launching this project. The TU/e has to invest quite some money in this concept but it will be very beneficial for them. Such that their students will have an innovative method of exploring the big campus. It is also great publicity as such a system has never been implemented before. And the students will look around them while finding their way, instead of looking at their phone which will result in a more social campus. Even groups of students can use the egg together, so they would be able to get to know to each other and also the campus.
In conclusion QkleQ is an interactive egg that shows you the way around campus. It will guide you by giving tangible and audible feedback. We hope to achieve that the students will explore the campus in a more natural manner, while also having a good time.
